Winter Expedition Skills, 2009

From this: Northland College Outdoor Education students are shown building Trail Toboggans.   To this: One of the finished toboggans is shown loaded, in the snow.
From this . . .   To this.

Loading the toboggan: there are Worker Bees, and there are Drone Bees--one student loads a Trail Toboggan as others watch.   On the trail: they look like they stepped right out of a Francis Lee Jaques pen-and-ink print.

Here, the Trail Toboggan is rigged with a pole to help negotiate hills.   A Quinzee Hut, the morning after: the ten inch thick snow walls support the weight of ten Northland College Outdoor Education students--approximately 1,500 pounds.
