Internship Opportunity
Outdoor Endeavors is pleased to announce
a unique internship opportunity for work with the Husky Challenge
Course & SCSU Sport Camps. The primary function of this position is
working with the day to day operations of our challenge course &
experiential programs. Services include a wide array of team
building, group development & experiential activities for a diverse
clientele. Secondary to this will be providing overnight first aid
services for our sport camps program. This duty is essentially an
on call function that is in place should youth participants become
injured during their stay in the residence halls. This is not a
camper supervision role!
This internship is a new position and
has an incredible amount of potential for the right person. First
aid background (WFR or higher) is highly desirable along with the
ability to laugh, work hard and play with a staff that does the
same! We will help you fulfill your academic obligations and
provide you with a great learning experience!
Experience/Other Requirements:

Candidates must have current 1st Aid
& CPR certifications.

Personal ropes course training or
experience.

Ability and desire to work with a
wide variety of diverse participants.

Ability to assess risk and act
accordingly.

Self-motivation & ability to
collaborate with other professionals in the field -Talent for
planning and developing programs that address client needs.

Ability to confidently facilitate,
instruct and talk in front of groups from 12 to 50 participants.

Enthusiasm for ropes course and
teambuilding activities and programs.

Must be open to feedback and capable
of development as a leader.

Must be available from May 26th
through August 10th, 2007.
Position Reports To: Outdoor
Endeavors/Ivan Bartha
Employment Compensation: $400
monthly stipend & free lodging in residence hall during the
internship.
Responsibilities of the Husky
Challenge Course Intern include:

Conduct experiential education
activities in a safe & appropriate manner.
-
Work cooperatively with all Campus
Recreation and Outdoor Endeavors staff to achieve our mission to
serve the SCSU campus community.

Possess working knowledge of high
and low ropes course operations, maintenance, equipment, and
safety systems.
-
Be familiar with HCC staff manual
and conduct activities according to SOP.

Attend & complete technical skills
training at the beginning of the season.

Engage in examination and evaluation
processes for all skill sets.
-
Understand and abide by the risk
management plan and emergency procedures.

Participate in outreach, marketing
and promotion efforts to ensure income.
Responsibilities of the Sport Camp
Overnight Counselor include:
-
Primary responsibility is to provide
basic first aid and C.P.R care to youth residents attending the
St. Cloud State University Sports Camps while staying in
residence halls.

Recognize & respond appropriately to
emergency situations or situations in which the health/safety of
the campers is at risk.

Counselor is expected to stay on
campus at night unless given permission by Report all
incidents/injuries that may occur, and submit documentation to
the Follow all rules and regulations of the University and
Residential Life.

Help participants with a
professional approach.

Be a
positive role model for campers through appropriate personal
behavior.
