Naturalist Internship Announcement
The Friends of Rydell Refuge Association(FRRA) is searching for a motivated individual to intern as an FRRA Naturalist at Rydell National Wildlife Refuge(NWR) for the summer months. Rydell NWR is located in the Prairie Pothole Region of Northwestern Minnesota between the flat Red River Valley Floodplain to the west and the rolling hardwood forest and lake regions to the east. The 2,120 acre Refuge is a beautiful mosaic of wetlands, bog, maple-basswood forests and tallgrass prairie. Anyone interested in expanding their horizons with valuable work experience with a dedicated staff in the beautiful setting of Rydell NWR is strongly encouraged to apply.
Description of Internship: Primary duties will include staffing Visitor’s Center while developing and presenting hikes and nature programs along the 5 miles of paved and accessible trail systems, interpretive writing, and preparing weekly press releases for Refuge programs. Secondary duties include assisting with biological monitoring and collections, and aiding Refuge staff as needed.
Salary: Weekly tax-exempt stipend of $150.00 per week, including free, on-site, wheelchair-accessible housing.
Tour of Duty: Starting on or about June 4 and extending 12-15 weeks. Workweek usually consists of eight-hour days, Wednesday- Sunday, from 9:30am-6:00pm.
