Fire Management Internship at the National Interagency Fire Center

March 2007

The exposure to new challenges while working with the National Park Service has shaped my life driving me to pursue graduate studies.” – Fire Communications and Education Intern Louis Hurst

Independent, flexible, and hard working individuals should apply for this internship in fire and fuels management. If hired, you will be working in the National Park Service’s office at the National Interagency Fire Center, located in Boise, Idaho. In this team-oriented environment, you will be working directly with the staff of the communications and education program, while being exposed to several other programs within NPS fire management. Excellent verbal communication and writing skills are vital for an intern selected in this position. During your time at the National Interagency Fire Center, you will be living in the Boise metropolitan area. Although being the largest and most diverse city in Idaho, Boise still has a small town character. The urban setting is very warm and personal, while the city’s location offers quick escape to recreation activities such as snow skiing, mountain biking in the Boise foothills, and floating the Boise River in the warmer months. Combining the professional workplace experience with all that the city of Boise has to offer imparts an internship second to none.

"Working at the National Park Service allowed me the opportunity to network and discover where my passion truly was. What an amazing experience!" – Former Fire Communications and Education Intern Richard Rivera
