Environmental Education Intern Opportunity

 

West Wisconsin Land Trust seeks a full-time intern to assist with its Environmental Education. The position will assist in expanding the program's curricula by researching and compiling information to compliment existing programs, and create new curricula for student and family courses.

 

  • Conduct market research (draft and implement survey and analyze results), and produce a report on the need of environmental education in specific western Wisconsin communities.  This may include:

    • Researching existing environmental educational facilities.

    • Drafting a survey for mailing to selected communities.

    • Creating a contact list of prospects for family programming.

    • Making community connections and networking with organizations.

 

  • Compile sources and information to improve education programming.  This may include:

    • Create quick-reference materials of natural resource facts.

    • Researching local animal populations and biological communities.

    • Write additional environmental education curricula.

 

Qualifications: Advanced undergraduate study in environmental education, environmental sciences, biology, education or related field desired. Candidates should have research skills and experience, good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.  Ideally, the candidate would also have interest and/or experience specifically in environmental education and curricula development.

 

Supervision: Education Director, Bill Dingwall

 

Compensation: $7 - $10/hour

 

Time Commitment: May 29, 2007–August 31, 2007 (flexible); Monday – Friday,8:00 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. Up to five days of unpaid leave may be taken during this period.
